KnowledgeShare Brown Bags Lunch

Please join CORE staff and members for an informal lunch (bring your own lunch) to share knowledge among sustainability practitioners, ask questions and/or provide feedback about CORE programs. We will also discuss a new Member Events Committee in charge of fun field trips to companies that can showcase their sustainability practices.

MEMBER LOCATION: This meeting will be hosted by CORE member YR&G (1821 Blake Street, Suite 3A, Denver,). In case of good weather (90%?), we `ll enjoy their outdoor patio! We welcome other members to host these monthly meetings in their office space. To take advantage of warm season, we`d love to meet at your patio or balcony. GRI Certified Sustainability Reporting Training Returns to the Rockies!

Join us for a special two-day Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Certified Training in downtown Boulder, Colorado, on May 24 and 25. Participants will learn how to manage the sustainability reporting process using the Global Reporting Initiative’s third-generation (G3 and G3.1) Sustainability Reporting Framework, supplemental GRI reporting publications and sustainability reports from leading organizations as case studies. Topics include publication project management, stakeholder engagement, materiality assessments, GRI coverage assessments, data collection, goal setting and GRI principles for defining boundary, content and quality.

The course is taught by working sustainability reporting professionals with in-depth knowledge of the GRI Reporting Framework and decades of experience managing enterprise-level reporting projects across a variety of sectors. A blend of instruction, individual and group exercises, sustainability case studies and special guest presentations from local reporting organizations keeps the course engaging and lively. Participants will also have an opportunity to network at an optional no-host mixer on Thursday evening.

On Friday afternoon, special guest speaker, Lara Hussain, Director, Sustainability Stakeholder Relations, Texas Instruments, will discuss her firm's sustainability reporting journey, share insights and suggestions for new and experienced GRI reporters, and preview the latest Texas Instruments GRI report. This will be a great opportunity for course participants to speak with a seasoned sustainability reporting professional.

Registration includes GRI Certified course content, supplemental training content, a 40-page GRI reporting guidebook, a special presentation from a global GRI reporter, catered meals and refreshments, carbon offsets for participant travel, and a no-host evening mixer. At the end of the training, participants will receive their certificate of completion directly from GRI.

The Boulder two-day GRI Certified Training Course is presented by ISOS Group, Official Training Partner for presenting GRI Certified Sustainability Reporting Trainings in the U.S., and Concept Green, ISOS Group Collaborating Partner for presenting GRI Certified Sustainability Reporting Trainings. Regional support is provided by CORE and the Alliance for Sustainable Colorado, Outreach Partners for the May 2012 GRI Certified Sustainability Reporting course. Sustainable business leaders say that the way to achieve long term prosperity is not to launch random greening initiatives, but to integrate sustainability into the core of their business strategy. In a follow up session from this 2012 Sustainable Opportun ities Summit, we'll dig deeper still into the key issues at hand, and share and apply some trusted tools and processes that can help you lay the right groundwork for values-driven, high-impact sustainability.

Josh Whitney, Senior Director with WSP Environment & Energy will provide a framework for assessing your company’s position and potential for sustainability opportunities from the top-line to the bottom line, and panelists will discuss how they have been able to help their companies move from one-off projects to strategic programmatic initiatives that deliver measurable revenue, savings and sustainability performance. Sub-topics include integrating product design, the supply chain, customers and other stakeholders, and setting a robust and relevant governance structure to incentivize and manage for performance.

Ben Moline, Manager of Water Resources and Real Estate, Molson Coors Brewing Co, Ryan Martens, Founder and CTO, Rally Software, and Jim McManus, CEO, Boyer`s Coffee will discuss their companies` approaches to integrating sustainability into strategy.
