McKinsey: When Sustainability Means More Than Green

11-Jul-09 18:19 | Graham Russell (administrator)
One of CORE's greatest opportunities is to help the business world understand the difference between "green" and true sustainability. With all the hoopla surrounding "green" and "clean" and "the new energy economy" just now, it's easy to forget that the opportunities for business to achieve a long term competitive advantage through a  strategy that is based on the principles of genuinely sustainable business practices totally dwarf the impact of a few small scale efforts to green the business by recycling paper of installing a few solar panels on the roof.

Of course, let's encourage companies to "go green"; of course, let us encourage the development of alternative energy and other cleantech technologies. These are essential enabling devices to change the way the world economy works. But, if you'r curious about how true sustainability in business will REALLY change the world, listen to this interview with Adam Werbach, CEO of Saatchi & Saatchi S and former President of the Sierra Club.Watch it now
