The Ten Commandments of Green Marketing

Presented by Carolyn Parrs & Irv Weinberg

Mind Over Markets, Santa Fe, NM

Today more than ever the greatest challenge facing the green marketer is how to make their brand or service relevant to the here and now.  One thing's for sure, it won't be "saving the planet one ‘whatever' at a time.”  Not in this time of economic concern and green fatigue. The solution will be taking the message from a cause to a because, by bringing the message down to earth and making it meaningful to the issues and concerns of everyday people in their everyday lives.

The question every marketer should be asking themselves right now is, "”How does what I do serve not only the planet but the people living on it?"  Then translating that answer into clutter busting, motivating messaging that breaks through the green haze and makes itself meaningful to mainstream American consumers who represent the greatest potential for growth.  To do that, you have to leave traditional thinking and messaging behind.

“The Ten Commandments of Green Marketing” is an essential guide to understanding and communicating with this fast growing and informed psychographic. With these ten cardinal rules, any marketer will be well prepared to understand the do's and don'ts, the how to’s and how not to’s of the green consumer.  How best to speak their language, how to marry ecology to economy and why you should spell green with 3 E’s.  This is not a talk on theory but instead practical principles and strategies marketers can use right now to build their green business or green communications successfully and sustainably. Their presentation also includes case studies of successful and unsuccessful green marketing efforts for both product and service industries.

Join Carolyn Parrs and Irv Weinberg, owners of Mind Over Markets (www.MindOverMarkets.com), a dedicated green communications and business development company in Santa Fe, New Mexico and featured authors in Inside the Minds: Greening Your Business (Thomson Reuters).  They also co-author the GreenMarketingBlog.com. This dynamic, in-the-trenches green marketing team has worked from Madison Avenue to Main Street America.  After years of living, working, consulting, writing, broadcasting and helping grow companies in the green market, they now teach business owners and organizations how to grow and thrive in this exploding market.
