Connected Organizations for a Responsible Economy
Colorado CleanTech Initiative (CCI) Tuesday, May 26, 2009
4:30-7:00 PM, Denver Metro Chamber of CommerceWe want to do a better job of planning the beer and food for the CCI events so we urge you to pre-register by 5 PM May 25th Speaker: Anita M. Burke Until recently, Anita worked for Shell International as the advisor to the Shell International Committee of Managing Directors on the operationalisation of sustainable development and the energy portfolio implications of a carbon constrained future. During her 18 years of working in all aspects of the upstream and downstream portions of the oil business, she has delivered profitable technologies and organizational processes that have delivered on the sustainable development and climate change strategic vision.
Anita founded The Catalyst Institute which is dedicated to the creation and continued development of sustainable businesses through innovation, teaching and coaching. She is recognized as a leader in helping organizations define and manage their evolutionary risk management brought upon as a result of the impacts on our ecosystem and financial system.

Corvid Inc.
Using Energy Systems More Efficiently
Corvid Inc. is an Evergreen, CO based company that has a pending patent on an insulated concrete wall that is hydronically heated and cooled. Aside from the obvious durability of concrete as an interior and exterior element, it has the best thermal mass storage capabilities of any building material. We have designed the wall to receive as much of its energy from free sources as possible, such as solar thermal and night sky radiant cooling. It can be augmented with other more conventional systems, but whatever the wall is connected to for energy storage, it uses it more efficiently. Over the past two years of development, we have created some very unique combinations of heating and cooling systems that work seamlessly with our wall and outside air exchange mechanisms.Presented by Steve Kroll and John Andrews, OwnersOwner Biographies
SolSource
The value chain in the solar energy industry consists of three primary players: manufacturers, distributors and system integrators. It is the third category; systems integrators that provide the critical function of designing and installing the actual solar energy power system for the end user. System integrators are the direct link between the OEM and the customer. It is the system integrators that make the case for the deployment of any particular product. The best systems integrators, however, do not market a particular product, but rather focus on providing the best economic and technical solution. This requires understanding the financial, environmental and energy needs of each client, and appreciating that there is no one size fits all formula in the solar business. The profitability of systems integrators depends not on their IP, but rather on their ability to execute on a project in a timely manner. This presentation will touch upon the internal structure of the PV industry, as well as how SolSource (a privately held company) has achieved 100% per annum growth for the past five years.
As Colorado's leading systems integrators or EPCM (engineering, procurement and construction management) firm, SolSource provides a suite of design and installation services for commercial, government, educational and residential customers throughout the state. Buying directly from OEM's, SolSource designs solar energy solutions for architects, builders, homeowners and commercial and military facilities managers. The firm is vertically integrated, handling all aspects of a project - from the initial sales call to hands-on project construction to the formal commissioning and utility sign-off on the system. SolSource is presently considering expanding its value proposition by manufacturing several solar energy products. Presented by Jeff Scott, President & CEO - Biography
