By now everyone's heard of LEED and the emphasis in new building construction on the use of eco-friendly building materials and systems that will reduce operating costs and carbon emissions and deliver a healthier environment for the occupants.

Still, most of us continue to live and work in buildings that were constructed before "green building" was even a concept.
