7:30-10:00 a.m

Sustainability in the Built Environment Things You Might Not Have Heard About

By now everyone's heard of LEED and the emphasis in new building construction on the use of eco-friendly building materials and systems that will reduce operating costs and carbon emissions and deliver a healthier environment for the occupants.

Still, most of us continue to live and work in buildings that were constructed before "green building" was even a concept. Join us to hear some aspects of retro-fitting older buildings that may surprise you and learn how the concept of "deconstructing" end-of-life buildings and salvaging much of the material is gradually becoming a viable alternative to bulldozing them into landfills.

Speakers:

Mark Blanchard, Weston Solutions:  Green Deconstruction:  Recycle the old before you build the new

Phillip Infelise, Peter Isakovic, Katie Kerns, CRESA Partners: Tenants and Sustainability

Lee Johnson, Clifton Gunderson: Hidden Tax Savings in Energy Upgrades
